Such were those enduring whom Peter wrote this epistle to. He wrote to encourage them by bringing their focus back on Christ, His sufferings, and the cause which is the root cause of the sufferings of believers. God allows and controls the suffering His people go through as under His care it ultimately serves to refine, mature, and strengthen their faith. God’s goal is never for His children to suffer pain and harm, but rather through the suffering there will result a conformity to Christ’s character as the inner transformation by the Spirit of God progresses.
