As I post this lecture to Sermon Audio today, April 1, 2020, we find ourselves in a world where opinions that fall outside pre prescribed guidelines are banned. You see, many in the church today are apposed to the testing of ideas, and that leads to no one learning. We need to have deep concern for people to learn the Scripture properly. He gives a quote from M. R. Dehaan to make his point. You may not know him, but he was the founder of the beloved Radio Bible Class. Pastor also talks about his experiences with Doctor Hayes in Hawaii, who would destroy him doctrinally at every turn.
So, is today’s sermon going to be confrontational? We’re talking about the rod/snake and the bronze serpent. They’re the same but when you add them together you get something else. (If that make sense, you’ve been coming to Cliffside a little too long, bless your hearts.) We’re combining Numbers 21 and Exodus 4. These both say, see and believe/live, and then you add John 3:13 and 14, where you get the “And as” and “even so”, “must”! Christ said “must”! That’s Math! And here we go. Now add John 8:28. Because we find out that you now know something when He is lifted up. Know what? Listen and find out.
