When your world suddenly changes it can take a while to wake up to the new reality. For the three women we read of in Mark 16 whose lives had been profoundly impacted through the terrible death of Jesus, the world was still a place they understood. There was still a tomb to visit, a lifeless body to anoint with spices, tears to weep and the dark ache of grief and despair in the face of death. Then, all of a sudden, the world they knew was shaken to the core. God had something else in mind, not only for those women but for all who have come to believe in the Son of God. We live in a world that aches with the pain of grief and death when all that we hold dear is taken away from us. How great is our need to wake up to the power of the new world that has broken into this present age through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
