Paul declares that the real purpose of true religion is not that we might be impressed with rituals, or to be entertained, or that it even gives “spiritual enlightenment.' The most important thing is not even that it teaches good morals and builds up an ideological community. Paul wants us to see that above everything else, true religion brings us into reconciliation with the holy and only true living God, and makes us to be worshipers of Him in Spirit and truth.
And so, true religion brings us into a true freedom. We need to guard that freedom we have in Christ because false worship and leaglism come in so subtly.
