How can you learn what God's will is, and how can you know how you should conduct yourself both in the church, and in the world, as a believer in Jesus Christ, if you do not regularly attend upon the preaching of the Word? It will be very hard indeed, to grow strong and do much of anything for Christ unless you submit to God speaking to you in this way of preaching. The text that we are looking at this morning goes one step further. It is asking you and I, “What will we do if others turn away from regular attendance upon the preaching of the word? It is a very thought-provoking question. What I want to do this morning is to take this text and to apply it to you who are the hearers of the Word, so that you will joyfully take up, and persevere in, this duty to which Christ has called you, of regularly attending the services of worship. We want to look first at the urgency of the charge given to Timothy and to all you who come to listen. Then we want to look at the urgent personal reason we should heed this charge. And then finally we want to look at the urgent corporate reason that we should heed this charge. (The Original Audio for this sermon did not turn out well.
