Polishing up the sinful nature is the great mistake of the modern church. It's no surprise that we have trouble having joy, peace etc.... when we are under such bondage. When I was saved all I wanted was to know Christ. I didn’t even know where to start cleaning up my life. It was unfixable by human logic. It couldn’t be polished. Then I got to be pretty good at the Christian stuff and I made the great mistake.......I decided that I was going to be the best Christian in the world (not that I was going to grow closer to Christ or be more like HIm) just that I would be the best Christian. I stopped building the spiritual nature and began polishing the sinful one. You see, Jesus couldn’t care less about your polished sinful nature. The cults are full of people with incredible sinful natures. They are polished til they look white as snow, but to God they are filthy rags and false righteousness. A chocolate covered cow-pie looks good from the outside. You will never present your sinful nature, or the flesh, to God. People can see that too. When the average unbeliever goes to church does he see people who are passionate about Jesus or does he just see people who don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t cuss, and dress really well? How exciting. Jesus died to set us free. Let’s be honest folks, there is no excuse for dry and dull
