A question is being asked here by the daughters of Jerusalem to each other, concerning the appearance of a procession which is coming out of the wilderness. In verse 7 it is declared to be Solomon’s couch, surrounded by sixty valiant men all holding swords, who are expert in war. Those men are described as the valiant of Israel. In verse 9, this couch is described as a palanquin; a portable enclosed sedan chair with curtains; which the King Himself sends to pick up His Bride, the Church, and to take her to the place where they shall be married. The description of this couch is quite elaborate, and so it will form the subject matter for the things which I shall say to you this afternoon.
