Cleansing of The Temple It is worth noting the example of Jesus Cleansing The Temple in Matthew 21:12–17, Mark 11:15–19, Luke 19:45–48, and John 2:13-16. It is also worth remembering Psalm 69:9 and Isaiah 56:7 as well.

Olympic Diving: Aerial Pole Dancing Over The Water It appears that what is known as Olympic diving is really aerial pole dancing over and into the water. Like pole dancing, Olympic diving requires a lot of athleticism and acrobatics as well as half and/or fully naked performers. It is also because many of the poses that the Olympic divers do while flipping and twisting in the air look similar to the poses performed by strippers dancing on a vertical pole. While strippers dance on a vertical pole, Olympic divers erotically dance over the water from a springboard or platform. It is sad that aquatics facilities have now become strip clubs, especially where both recreational and Olympic divers can practice erotic poses while leaping, flipping, and twisting in the air over and into the water. It is also sad that Olympic diving is literally a more publicly accepted pornography. Worth noting Matthew 5:27-32 in response to this tendency to market perverted eroticism, especially as this type of publicly tolerated erotic entertainment known as Olympic diving.

Sports Teams: Idols of The Heart This sermon is very helpful in response to the sports idolatry of our days. It also references Luke 16:15 since pro sports is highly esteemed among people, which makes it an abomination in The Sight of The Lord. This is not to say that prolific talent is an abomination in The Sight of The Lord, but that the prideful prestige associated with such talent is. There are countless names of sports teams in the various sports leagues, and all of it is idolatry of the heart. These sports fans literally worship their sports team as if they are actually worshiping the Golden Calf. This sermon shows that Satan is using sports idolatry, especially that of sports team names, to stir a love for the temporal vanities of the world. Also worth noting 1 John 2:15-17, James 4:13-17, Matthew 16:24-28, Mark 8:34-38, Luke 9:23-27, and the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus recorded in Luke 16:19-31 in response to the sports craze, especially over sports team names.

Sports: Potential Connection To Witchcraft It also appears that pro athletes could be practicing witchcraft to enhance their performance in sports.

Pro Sports: Pro Idolatry This sermon totally defeats the idolatry of pro sports as well as showing the dangerous consequences of idolizing pro athletes and sports in general. For example, the prestigious, but prideful, baseball player named Darrell Johnson (August 25, 1928 – May 3, 2004) was known as the "Manager of the Year" by both The Sporting News and the Associated Press.
However, on May 3, 2004, Darrell Johnson died at 75 of leukemia, a cancerous disease attacking the bone marrow. The death of Darrell Johnson on May 3, 2004 of leukemia shows that worldly prestige in the form of athletic accolades are totally meaningless. This sermon shows why the idols of pro sports and prestige destroy those who seek it. Thus, the desire for the idol of pro sports and prestige leads to death, both physical and spiritual.

Pro Sports: Factory of Idols As John Calvin said, the human heart is a factory of idols. Based on the wise words of John Calvin, we see that pro sports is a factory of idols, namely idols in the form of athletes, both professional and amateur, awards, memorabilia, and merchandise.

Pro Sports: The Lust of the Flesh The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These three vanities are manifested in pro sports.

Pro Sports = Pro Greed Remember 1 Timothy 6:10. The love of money is the root of all evil.
Pro sports is pro greed. That greed characterized by pro sports is especially manifested in the sexual lasciviousness of pro sports, including the Olympics.

Practical wisdom! Today, pro sports and its athletic stars are known for their excessive respectability in the public eye, but pro sports is nothing but a pigpen of filth. This is one of the reason why pro athletes are generally spoiled. Not to mention that they are way overpaid in terms of their salary. Also, pro athletes are given excessive adulation in society in spite of the fact that pro athletes frequently engage in all kinds of lasciviousness, including the very act of fornication. With regards to pro sports, we should heed the warnings of the Apostle John in 1 John 2:15-17. Of course, pro sports will one day cease to exist from all of society.

Great Sermon! Why aren't more preachers taking the Word of God and applying it like this to living a Christian life? Thank you Pastor Reed for faithfully proclaiming the Word of God to a dying world! Pastor Reed lays down the biblical basis for rejection of the modern idea of sports and puts it where it should be, in the back yard! Thank you again Pastor Reed!
