Christian leaves the Interpreter's House and begins his journey, as a converted man, to the Celestial City.
First, he comes to the cross, which is not his actual conversion, but the experiential realization of his conversion and assurance of salvation. He no longer feels the heavy weight of condemnation.
Then, this new convert, meets Simple, Sloth and Presumption. These 3 are not true Pilgrims, but those who live according to their name. A short journey is taken to Pilgrim's Progress Part 2 to find the end of these 3 false Pilgrims.
The lesson ends with a discussion on the law and gospel from a Lutheran perspective and from the Reformed perspective (our view).
