In Isaiah 7 we can conclude that Ahaz was terrified and blown away by the loud and scary noisemakers north of him. Who were they? They were Samaria and Damascus, who joined their kingdoms and armies to threaten Ahaz and his southern kingdom of Judah. But Isaiah, standing with and for God, saw them differently than the king and his followers did. God sent Isaiah to interrupt the fear and foolishness of king Ahaz so he could remind them that Israel and Syria may be irritating, but with God's help and guidance they were harmless and no real threat. And if he wanted to shift his perception on these harmless and loud noisemakers he would have to believe God and let Him put him on an unshakable and unswayable foundation.
