God originally created man to live forever in his fleshly body. But Adam's sin quickly polluted the human race so that all are born sinners and death spread throughout. All of us will one day die. But from the start there is the hope of a future resurrection. The particulars are spelled out to Daniel in chapter 12. Some will rise to life everlasting; others to shame and everlasting contempt. Jesus picks up on this general resurrection in John 5 with the resurrection of the just and unjust. But will there be one resurrection at the end of time or does it happen in stages. The answer is found in Revelation 20 . The future genera; resurrections divided into two phases: the first resurrection of the just followed by the 1,000 year reign of Christ, and then the second resurrection of those who will experience the second death. Is this first resurrection to be taken literally or spiritualized? What blessing are for those involved in the first resurrection? And who is included? Those included in the first resurrection will enter into the kingdom prepared for them since the foundations of the earth!
