The Passover was God's picture of Jesus' sacrifice. It is hard for us to imagine if all the first born of each family died in the night. Although everyone will die, what made this miraculous was that the Egyptians first born died, while the first born of the Israelites did not. God put our parents, Adam and Eve, in Paradise and gave them a command. They chose freely to disobey God and since that time, all people have a bent towards sin. All of us have broken God's law and we all deserve His wrath. The gracious thing is that God became a Man so that He could die and take the punishment that we deserved. When we are judged on the basis of our own performance, all of us fail. How can we be perfect, just as our Father in Heaven is perfect? Jesus never sinned and He was the only One who could have born the wrath of God for us. Apart from the grace of God no one can enter Heaven. The best thing we can do to for others is to live the life that Jesus wants us to live. The only means by which people can be set free from bondage is to accept what Jesus did for us on the cross.
