A local judge was found guilty of abusing his office by our state Supreme Court late last week.
All too often, our public officials abuse their powers and use them for their own enrichment, or to escape liability for their misconduct. It is fit that all such misconduct be judged and punished.
But such failures ought to prompt in the believer's heart a rejoicing at the Savior's perfect conduct throughout His ministry. He made Himself poor to enrich His people! He did not use his right to judge sinners, for He came not to judge the world but to save it. He did not exert his rights and prerogatives to escape the judgment His Father placed upon Him for the sake of His people.
So great is the contrast between the excellent conduct of Jesus versus the rampant misconduct of the powerful and important people of this world in these days! Oh how Believers ought to rejoice in our Redeemer! How eager we ought to be to crowd around Him, own His title and praise His Name!
Our Lord Jesus has won a double right to the obedience and love and adoration of His redeemed ones! It was always His right to receive such worship, but now doubly so, by virtue of the selfless sacrifice He made for His people at the Cross!
