Misunderstood and ridiculed and ignored when it was young, because it looked so out of place compared to the other ducks in the pond!
But as time passed, the ugly duckling proved to be a beautiful and powerful swan – a uniquely majestic member of the waterfowl family!
The New Testament Epistle of James was kind of an ugly duckling!
In its earliest years, it was so different from other New Testament letters, that it was often neglected and even mistrusted. Even in the Sola-Scriptura hay-days of the Protestant Reformation, the little letter of James often got very little respect!
Time and careful conservative scholarship have proved that all James' detractors and doubters were wrong. This is a beautiful and powerful letter. If you read it with faith that lives, it will change your life!
So consider the first verse of James, as an introduction to its background. For the next several months, God willing, you and I will open & unfold James' timeless epistle. We will examine its themes, and examine ourselves. We'll introduce James like this: Three key questions that help unlock the oldest epistle in your New Testament. 1. Who wrote it? 2. Who read it? 3.
