Peter experienced spiritual highs and lows in a very short time. He rightly proclaimed Jesus as the "Christ and the Son of the Living God." Then when Jesus talks of being killed in Jerusalem, Peter rebukes him and gets rebuked in return. Like many today, Peter was focused on his own interests and an earthly kingdom. Jesus's kingdom transcends this world; and His mission was to be crucified as an atoning payment for sin. We often misunderstand what God's plan is. But our job as Christians is to seek His will and follow Him in loving obedience.
