In Isaiah 53, verses 1-4 we have another disparity between what was expected of Messiah and how He came to the nation of Israel. He was despised and rejected because He hid His face (His glory) from them. The Jews saw nothing in Him to comment Himself to them because He came in humility and mean circumstances. They regarded Him as smitten by God and afflicted. Yet, as Isaiah realizes, it was for the transgressions of He people that He suffered.
