Psalm 95 is an exhortation to worship and gives instruction as to the manner in which we are to come into the presence of God.
We are not left to our own notions as to how we are to approach God in the activity if personal or corporate worship.
We are to come into God's presence with thanksgiving.
Thus far in our study of those factors which must characterize the condition of our soul in true worship we have considered these factors.
(1) There must be a knowledge of God.
(2) The second factor which we considered was that of repentance.
(3) The third aspect that we considered was that of faith.
The next factor that we will consider is that of thankfulness.
TRUE THANKFULNESS HAS ITS BASIS IN AN ATTITUDE OF CONTENTMENT.
It is only a contented heart that is able to express true Gratitude.
TRUE CONTENTMENT HAS ITS BASIS IN A LIFE OF PRACTICAL GODLINESS..
I Tim. 6:6 'But godliness actually is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment.”
God has inseparably linked happiness with holiness.
There are several things which manifest that there is a lack of contentment.
Heb. 13:5 'Let your character be free from the love of money (covetousness), being content with what you have...' (2) Envy is the opposite of contentment....
(3) Murmurings and complaining under frowning providences are the very opposite of contentment
