The theme of the book of Proverbs is certainly wisdom, but the disposition of the reader is one a childlike faith. In Proverbs 3:1-12, a wise father exhorts his son to trust in the LORD with all his heart. Knowing full well the courses of this world, the father expects the son to so cherish the wisdom of the father so that he may walk in straight paths.
Likewise, our heavenly Father lovingly provokes us to trust in him alone, for he is worthy to be trusted. He has proved his faithfulness again and again and the scriptures testify to his trustworthiness.
Do not trust in your righteousness, riches, or wisdom, for they will fail you. Trust in the Lord - he will never fail you.
