1. We talked about the INDICATIVES and IMPERATIVES of the gospel and showed their difference and importance. The indicatives are the only grounds of salvation. Imperatives on the other hand flow because one is saved, but not to be saved. 2. The writer of Hebrews uses the same manner of reasoning His gospel testimony. He conditions all of salvation in the Priesthood, Sacrifice, Sonship, blood, New Covenant, Perfection in Christ. 3. Thus, the exhortations that follow are in the light of that understanding-never vice versa. 4. The Hebrew Christians were having problems of UNBELIEF and by that-the writer meant going back to the Law of Moses. Going to the Law of Moses is UNBELIEF and that still abounds under different forms. 5. And this was unbelief that happens when one has heard the truth. Thus, defecting from the Truth of an accomplished redemption and sufficiency of Christ alone to the Law or any system of salvation is what WILLFUL SINNING means in that context. 6. Willful sinning does not mean HABITUAL or DELIBERATE sins because all sins are habitual and deliberate even from the most pious Christians. This text is not talking about daily sins at all. 7.
