Paul states that he has external, worldly reason to boast, but that external appearances are not what a believer should be judged by -- the Lord knows the heart and calling of His servants. The love of Christ was orhestrated so as to cause you, just like Paul, to enter into a sacrificial life of all-out worship -- such radical self denial that it is as if you had died!
