INTRO: Our text this morning is 2 Peter 3, the whole chapter. In verse 1 he says: 1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), My purpose this morning is to stir up our pure minds by way of reminder of what lies before us. I was going to speak about the imminent return of Christ, which is the rapture, but felt myself led to this chapter and I trust it will be a good reminder to you as it was to me. The Apostle Peter wrote both epistles to remind the readers of things they needed to remember. There are things we need to remember, and one of those is that Jesus is coming again! Jesus instructed believers to always be watchful for they know neither the day nor the hour of His coming for them. But let me remind us that we have much more to look forward to than that, though the imminent return of Christ for His own is what should keep us alert every day.
