Moving Sermon. As happens time and again when listening to sermons from Dr. Beeke, I was much impressed by this one. There was a convicting authority and a constraining power in it, as he lovingly and in a very plain way pleaded with children and young people. I think I can say I haven’t been a very difficult child to my parents, but I believe I never realised so deeply how MUCH I have sinned against them, as I now did. I felt I should obey Dr. Beeke’s pointer to ask my parents for forgiveness, today, not postponing it to tomorrow. “Behold, NOW is the accepted time, NOW is the day of salvation.” I realised something too, of my sinning against God Himself when sinning against my parents, because they are in authority over me by His ordinance. And if I sinned already so much against my parents, what must I have sinned against God, Who is yet infinitely higher, and worthier of my love and obedience! May the Holy Spirit convict me more, and drive me to the Lord Jesus! It is my fervent desire that many, especially children and young people, will listen to this sermon, and the Lord will bless it to bring them closer to their parents; that also many prodigal sons and daughters will return home to God and to their parents! “Where love dwells, the Lord commands the blessing.” (Ps. 133:3, Dutch Psalter)
