As with all the other emotions we've studied, Jesus' anger is far & away beyond anything that we experience. His anger is holy, pure, righteous indignation. Were you to happen upon a crowd of people gathered about the Teacher of Nazerath, you could likely come upon a situation rife with tension & crackling with conflict. In His compassion & sorrow, Jesus has come to do battle & He enages His enemies with fierce intensity. Amazing - the wrath of the Lamb. We see the occasions which explain Jesus' anger & study some of the terms which the Spirit has inspired so as to help us understand Jesus' experience of anger. We then look at how He expressed His anger. We are challenged to ascertain whether our anger is self-centered or God-centered? Does zeal for God's house & name consume us as it did Jesus, or is our anger triggered when we don't get what we want? We must also learn that righteous anger must be tempered by redemptive compassion, grief over sin, & gospel love which desires to see God's enemies become our brothers in grace.
