Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Great Sermon! Pastor Parker, thank you for this enlightening sermon. It has cleared up a lot of things for me. So happy to know that the evidence that we are born again is not by our works that we do, but by our testimony that Jesus alone is our only righteousness before God and that we are sinners saved alone by His mercy and grace based on the imputed righteousness of Christ to our account in heaven. I know we are to do the works God has ordained for us, but not for our salvation. You have helped to make it clear in my mind that this is true.
I used to be a 7th Day Adventist and it is taught that we must keep the commandments and do good works as evidence of our faith to be saved. It was a heavy burden, as I knew I was unable to do either. Your sermons have truly helped me to see the true gospel of God's grace, which I need to hear over and over. Thank you so much.
