This message is the second in a series in Leviticus. Five times in Leviticus 21 the scriptures call these offerings "the bread of God." The marginal reference and some versions simply call the offerings "the food of God" not of course in any material sense (Psalm 50:12-15). Leviticus chapter 2 looked at from the average modern reader's point of view is, as one put it, "a mass of difficulties." True. And yet this offering rightly explained can be easily understood and is very, very, practical. This is the working man's worship chapter. It can be outlined as follows: 1. God is worthy of your best works. 2. Prayer and the influence of the Holy Spirit make our works acceptable to God. 3. Good works are a lasting powerful influence. The "memorial portion" means that God sees, God accepts, God remembers, and finally, God enjoys your good works offered in the Spirit in your appointed place of daily labor.
