Theme: Followers of Christ should manage their money for eternal investments in people. In vv. 1-8, Jesus gives the parable of the shrewd manager. In v. 9, Jesus gives the application, teaching His disciples to use their money (which belongs to God) to make friends and influence them for the Kingdom. We can learn from this that we should invest our money generously in people for the Kingdom. In vv. 10-13, Jesus continues His instructions to His disciples, and we learn from His teaching the importance of being dedicated, disciplined investors for the Kingdom of God. We cannot serve God and money; we need to take careful inventory of whom or what we are serving. As we meditate on how generous God has been to us, let us re-evaluate whether we are being generous with what God has graciously loaned to us and make investments in His Kingdom.
