The story of the three Hebrew children who refused to bow down and worship Nebuchadnezzar's idol teaches us the importance of refusing to bow to sin and standing against evil no matter the cost.
Martin Luther King Jr. did not believe in the resurrection, and his sermon on this text is sad, because he only had a hope in this life. He preached that this text taught us to stand up for right because we could do no other, but he had no confidence in the salvation promised by God to His people.
It is important that believers not miss the point of this Scripture: that God no only expects us to do what is right before Him regardless of the cost, but He promises us that we will win some day through His Son our Lord Jesus!
The truth is, that Jesus is with His people in all their troubles! He walks with us in the fire of opposition. He is our shepherd, and even when we face death, we are instructed to fear no evil because He is with us.
Jesus has promised He will never leave us nor forsake us!
The promise of victory in our Lord Jesus is connected with His victory at the Resurrection. This is why Paul the Apostle could face impending death and still exclaim that the Lord would deliver him from every evil work, and preserve him unto Christ's heavenly kingdom!
Paul proclaimed that we win even if they kill us, because God's love in Christ for us cannot be defeated by anything in the universe.
We must not sell short God's mighty power to save us. We must have the confidence that some day soon, our God will deliver us finally and completely from every evil thing.
Jesus promised that everyone who trusts in Him, He will raise up at the last day! He won't lose us!
