If we love God, we will keep his Word. Everyone wants to love God, but it's often difficult to keep His Word as it's against our nature as fallen creatures. God in His infinite Grace has given us many gifts to help us with this task. One of the more overlooked gifts from God is the hope of eternity in Heaven in His comfortable presence. Heaven is often a subject that is difficult to talk about. To an unbeliever, Heaven may seem too fantastic or too much like a fantasy, it may seem like it's too good to be true, and in order to believe what Jesus tells us about Heaven, we also have to believe in Hell as well. To some believers, the thought of Heaven in overwhelming and causes them to not live in the 'here and now' and just bide time until they get called home instead of doing the work the Lord has called us to do.
If we remember on this promise rightly though, it can be an outstanding motivator doing the Lord's bidding while we are here on earth. Remember our greeting into the eternal will be "Well done good and faithful servant", and servants do the work of their master.
As you listen to the sermon see if you can use these thoughts this week to help you keep the Word and work more effectively for the Lord. God will be there on His throne in Glory. 1 Kings 8:30, Hebrews 4:14, Isaiah 6 Christ promised to prepare a place for us which will be beyond our imagination. John 14:1.6 We will be worshiping and enjoying God and never tire. We will feast and fellowship in the comfortable presence of God. Rev 19
Pray this week to let the promise of heaven motivate you to keep yourself in the Word.
