Oh, I know that it is certainly true that He was in the bosom of the Father in eternity past, but God knows that I need to know this today, this very morning, that He is also presently now in the bosom of the Father. What does this phrase mean? In what sense is the Lord Jesus Christ presently in the bosom of the Father? That is what I would like to attempt to explain to you now in the context of verses 17 and 18. The only-begotten Son being “in the bosom of the Father” declares to us, first of all, the truth that the law coming through Moses cannot save any person from their sins. And 2nd – It declares to us that the great love that exists between the Father and the Son is the basis of the believer's always being loved.
