The scene described in our scripture reading must have been very dramatic. The crowds of interested peasants pressed together to hear Christ declaring God's word to the Pharisees and scribes; and to see Him healing many in a crowd. Four men arrive late in the day carrying their paralyzed friend on his bed only to find all the doors and windows clogged with people. Luke tells us that this man was palsied, he had some neurological defect in his bodily systems, but Jesus spoke to him kindly and healed him to the fullest measure.
