For most Christians that thought of yielding, of obeying in something that is foreign to us is terrifying. Some will even go through the motions but their obedience is not genuine. But when the Holy Ghost comes, He brings His power. That power should translate into our wanting too, wanting to obey, wanting to have a relationship with God. Often God calls us to some extraordinary thing and our obedience is needed. Here in our text we find someone who went in with one expectation and something extraordinary came along instead. A very embarrassing situation came his way; but Joseph was a good man. Instead of doing the popular thing he followed God in obedience. And God gave him some necessary light to see what to do. No, we don't always get all the light we want but He does give us the light that we need to follow in faith. We tend to want more especially when we think we have an extreme situation. Really it's a matter of simply obedience being required. We end up going the long way or even the wrong way. Follow the example Joseph gave with his extraordinary obedience. God may call us to some strange things that He ain't told no one else about. And when He does He will also supply the means; just trust Him and stop being afraid. Obey.
