Life sometimes throws us 'curve balls' which rob us of our peace. Joseph was blindsided when he discovered that Mary, the woman to whom he was betrothed, was pregnant and he was sure that he was NOT the father. What should he do? Publicly disgrace her? Privately divorce her? I'm sure that Joseph experienced many sleepless nights as he contemplated his next move. Then the angel of God commanded him to do something unconventional-- and that is marry her immediately. In the midst of Joseph's contemplation, he experiences the peace of God. How? How can we experience God's peace when we've been thrown a curve? Three ways: First, peace comes through communicating with God. We are to be anxious about nothing and pray about everything. Secondly, peace comes through contemplating the truth. We are to think upon those things that are true, lovely, good report, that have virtue and praise--and we will experience unexplainable peace. Thirdly, peace comes through obeying God's commands. We need to do what we know we should do-- and the God of peace will be with us. But we can never know the peace of God until we are at peace with God-- and peace with God comes through a personal relationship with the God of peace.
