This Psalm illustrates that if we don't recognize our sins then those sins are still between us and the Father. Sin dealt with brings us to a place where God, in His great mercy, delivers us and sees us as if we had not sinned at all - that's justification. As David is confronted by Nathan he realizes that his sins are against God as much, or more than against others . But for David to experience forgiveness he first had to recognize his sins. As David comes to a place of recognition and repentance He praises God for what He has done in light of what he, David, has done.
