Each January, the members of Reformed Baptist Church of Kansas City celebrate the church's anniversary by renewing their covenantal commitment to Christ and one another, and a sermon is given as a charge to the church.
On the third anniversary in 2011, the sermon text was Hebrews 10:19-25, where two foundational truths are given as a basis for three exhortations to the church.
The two foundational truths are that we have access to God by Christ's Person and work and that this same Christ is the High Priest forever over the house of God.
Based on this foundation, the writer of Hebrews gives the exhortations to let us draw near in faith, let us hold fast in hope, and let us consider one another in love.
Added to these is the exhortation to let us proclaim this Christ to the glory of God and the salvation of the lost.
