Today we conclude the doctrinal statement of unity of the Spirit which we are commanded to be diligent to preserve. This is a highly stylish passage. The sense of it goes like this.
Ephesians 4:3b–6: . . . being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace: [Specifically] one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
One occurs 7 times in verses 4-6 There are 3 triads in these verses Verse 4 says one, one, one Verse 5 repeats one, one, one Verse 6 has a different triad: over all, through all, and in all
1 - One Body 2 - One Spirit 3 - One Hope 4 - One Lord 5 - One Faith 6 - One Baptism 7 - One God
