The voice of unbelief will always say "turn back" in the face of danger and difficulty. We must learn to trust God with the calling He has given us. He will not call us to a work and then fail to give us the resources to complete it. Paul did not turn back and had the scars to prove it but he came to a glorious completion.
To turn back from a calling in fear and unbelief is serious but it is not unpardonable. If you have begun to turn back, even in the heart, go to the Lord and ask forgiveness. He will restore you.
