A new law took effect recently in Canada that allows for the prosecution of any who would try to counsel someone out of the unbiblical lifestyle represented by the LGBTQ2S+ movement, labelling such counselling as Conversion Therapy. This new crime is punishable by up to 5 years in prison. This is not a new thing. In fact, at least 20 states and the District of Columbia, along with several territories and many municipalities within the United States have similar bans upon conversion therapy.
In the United States, Christians have not been muzzled with regard to the teaching against sin of all kinds (which includes these lifestyles) and have not been threatened with jailtime...yet. But Canadien churches have not the protection of the 1st Amendment, as we do in the USA.
These actions do not represent something that is unknown in history. From communist regimes that have banned Christianity, to Islamic countries that have banned proselytization, to secular states that ban the preaching of the Gospel, to the Jewish leaders commanding the Apostles not to preach in Jesus' name...these things are not new, though, they are new to us in the West.
Humanity has always followed the lead of Satan's rebellion against God through the "casting off of restraint." "Did God really say...?" has been the clarion call of sin-darkened hearts against the gospel since the first sin, known as the Fall of Genesis 3, 6,000+/- years ago.
The call of God upon the believer is and has always been to proclaim God's call to be reconciled to Himself. We have been made ambassadors of this message. We dare not de-sin-setize our message in the name of political correctness or sin-tolerance.
