Paul, in Galatians and Colossians, helps us see, how we can recognize and know we're turning to a "better news" and how "our understanding" of Jesus has been compromised and tainted with lies?
It's when our affections for, appreciation of, awe in, agreement with and attention upon Jesus has been hijacked, ransacked and ransomed by lies, life and lust.
How did it happen? We, at some point, yielded to our flesh, surrendered our allegiance to Christ alone and bought the enemies suggestions. This miss step got us out of step with the Spirit and put us in step with the lie. The consequences of sowing to our flesh has corrupted us and now this fruit of this corrupted seed has tainted our view, as it aggressively begins its work of diminishing, devaluing and dismantling the good news of redeeming grace in Christ, for a "better news" and its temporary shadows and tainted substitutes.
Paul says… "I marvel that you are turning away so soon FROM Him (the Father) who called you through the grace of Christ, TO a different/better good news… O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth (having turned from Christ for a "better news"… how is it you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years…" (Galatians 1:6-9 ; 3:1 ; 4:9-10)
