Looks can be deceiving. The transfiguration of Jesus confirms this: He had the appearance of an ordinary man yet was – and still is today – deity dressed in a human body. One day, the radiance of Christ's glory shone clearly; the Father audibly affirmed Jesus and commanded all who encounter Him: "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" Mark 9:7 (NKJV) That day, on the mountaintop with Peter, James and John, Jesus' outward appearance reflected His true, inner character. This was not a borrowed radiance, some reflection from outside of Him, but the expression of His own glorious nature. This is the Jesus all believers will see one day, enveloped in the cloud of His glory – forever. Today, our best course is to continually listen to and heed the words of Jesus. In Christ, the law of God and the grace of God converge. He alone is the pathway to life and glory!
