A little groundwork for Heb 10:26-39: the book of Hebrews is dealing with Jewish believers, not nonbelievers. This book is for mature Christians. This tells Christians how to grow in their belief and move on in their Christian life and become stronger spiritually. Do not go back under the old law” is the message. Do not go back to the sacrificial system to keep your salvation because the final sacrifice has already come: Jesus Christ. He died for our sins and He is now in heaven. How did a Jew become a Jew? He was born a Jew. He can't get unborn a Jew. How do you become a Christian, a child of God? By birth. You are born spiritually into the family of God. How can you get unborn? You can't, ever. Once a Christian, always a Christian, no matter what you do. You can obey God or disobey Him, but you are always His child. There are repercussions if you misbehave, and there are rewards if you behave. This is what Heb 10:26-39 is all about.
Hebrews 10:26: There remains no more sacrifice for sins. This does not say that you lose your salvation. It just says there is no more sacrifice for sins. He's talking to the believers. The final sacrifice has come. The final sacrifice has happened. Animal sacrifices will do no good to keep your salvation. Animal sacrifices will make God angry because you are disobeying His instructions. If you're not with God's program, you're against it. You've become an adversary. Vs27: You don't get along with God, and God reaches a point with His misbehaving children and He will cut them off. This means you may die. This is the direst warning to believing Christians in the whole entire bible. Being saved is not......
