INTRO: I had planned this message several weeks ago and then missed church one Sunday. I seek to remind us at least once a year of the imminent catching up of the Church. Things are moving so fast today it is hard to keep up. We turn this morning to 2 Thessalonians 2. The Apostle Paul had established the Church at Thessalonica on his second missionary journey. And now, some time later he hears certain concerns regarding these believers. He addresses a few of those concerns in both 1 and 2 Thessalonians. What is clear is that Paul has taught the Thessalonians quite a lot about the return of Christ. In 1 Thessalonians 1 Paul speaks of how highly other churches have spoken about the Thessalonian believers. Look at 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10: 9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. The wrath to come, as I understand it, refers to the tribulation time. And Paul had taught that the believer is delivered from this wrath.
