The resurrection of the body - and the accompanying renewal of the whole material created order - will consummate God's purpose to sum up everything in the heavens and earth in Christ. This climactic, all-encompassing renewal is the final death of death. Death was destroyed in substance in Jesus' resurrection, but the material creation (including men's bodies) yet continues under death's power and sway. But what is true of Jesus will be true of the creation. Death will finally be fully and everlastingly swallowed up in life, and Paul cited two Old Testament passages to show that this was God's plan and promise all along. This message examines Paul's first citation drawn from the prophet Isaiah.
