Time flies! The older I am, the busier I have become and the faster time seems to evaporate. I do not have enough time nor energy to finish everything on my plate. That is why I need to be selective in how I spend my time. I need to approve those things that are excellent, living according to the priorities of utmost importance! I need to learn how to put first things first. But what should be our priorities as believers in Christ. As far as Jesus Christ is concerned, He had two priorities summed up in the great commandment. Top priority was to love the Lord with all of his heart, soul, mind, and strength. And a close second was to love his neighbor as himself. These should be our priorities too. Loving God and loving people! But what about family, job, accumulating wealth, concerns and causes-- where do they fit in the line up. Paul answers that question in 1 Corinthians 7 where he admonishes the believers to keep these other concerns in proper perspective so that they can live in undivided devotion to Jesus Christ. We cannot allow them to become the focus of our lives. Our focus must be on loving God and others because our time is short. We are facing a time crunch. The world is changing. Time of opportunity is closing. We need to be focused. Plus our time on earth is short too. Time is running out! Therefore we need to put first things first!
