God wants me to depend on Him, not on myself. The Old Testament was all pointing to Jesus and therefore whether Gentile or Jew, we are no longer under the law if we are children of Jesus. Jesus died on the cross, and everything that was needed in the law was taken care of on the cross. Tons of people do what they think they need to do in church without receiving the Spirit of God. We need to be led by the Spirit. God gives His beloved sleep. We cannot rely on our human effort; we must rely on God. God wants us to depend on Him, not on ourselves. We are not to think that Christ did His part, now we must do our part. God does not love us because we are worthy, God loves us because He chooses to love us. We cannot clean up our mess. Because of what Jesus has done, we can rest confidently in Him. If we are in Christ, we are God’s children.
