God has revealed Himself in the scriptures. The gospel is telling us about Jesus; it is not some made up tradition, the scriptures are revelation from God. It is possible for Christians to mess up badly. When we do mess up, it can cause others to be misled as well. We are justified through a relationship with Christ.
