Scripture talks a lot about the importance of prayer and gives us many examples of the prayers of many people for many needs and things. But there is one kind of prayer that is usually overlooked when we talk about what to pray for.
That oft-overlooked subject is the Kingdom of God.
Remember that when Jesus taught His disciples to pray, one of the first things was "Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven."
In this passage we are reminded that those who love God will desire to see His kingdom come and will therefore earnestly pray for this to happen.
Paul tells us that there is a crown of righteousness stored up not only for himself, but for all those who love His [Jesus] appearing.
The coming of the end of the age is a big deal. The scripture has much to say about this event and time. Two of the NT letters are filled with information about that coming time. Many of the prophets in the OT prophesied about events of the end. One entire letter...the last one...is dedicated to revealing much about that time, and further, blessings are promised to the one who reads that letter.
Today's message is focused upon encouraging us to remember that the coming of the Lord is a very big deal. If we truly love Him, then we will want to see Him face-to-face and will therefore pray with that desire in their mind and on their lips.
