Every Christian has an anointing (1 John 2:27). In quite a real sense Christians are both joint heirs and joint anointed ones or "joint Christs." Let not this seem to be fantastical or somehow curiously abstract. The knowledge that comes with the unction ("you know all things") is knowledge about the mattter at hand, redemptive understanding of the distinction of Father and Son as well as the full humanity of Christ. The anointing is in fact the indwelling Spirit. Enlightening communion with the Holy Spirit has conditions relative to our disposition attached.
