In the closing paragraph of Paul's admonition to live in a manner befitting the Gospel, he encourages the Philippian saints to hold fast to the word of life so that, when Christ returns, he might be proud that he did not run or labor in vain. The Apostle had expended great effort so the Philippians might have a sacrificial offering of faith to lay before Christ. Even if he is martyred, he rejoices and wants these saints to join in his rejoicing for it is worth it all to hear the Lord say, "Well done."
