In Chapter 3 Job bursts forth with a lament. He is essentially asking why has this happened to him? Why was he even born and allowed to grow up? Then all of the the tragic things would never have happened. But he is forgetting several important things about how God has used him and will use him to help others. He does not have the proper perspective on life here. Chapter 3 serves as bridge between the events of Chapters 1-2 and the "advice" of his friends which begins in Chapter 4 and makes up the bulk of the book. This also begins the poetic section of the book, which is again the bulk of it.
