Revelation 3:3Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

The hour is now to pick up you cross and follow Jesus Christ. If you claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ it is time to stop compromising the word of God. Jesus is telling us to be ready for His return.

1Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

  • We must be ready for Jesus to return for His Bride (The Church) the body of Christ.
  • Today we live in a world of deception and great wickedness.
  • So many people claiming to be followers of Jesus Christ but living their lives full of pride and selfish desires.
  • We make no time to serve God but take every opportunity to serve ourselves.
  • We sit in front of a computer on an average of about 35hrs per week and come to the house of God for only a couple of hours.
  • We sit and watch hours of filth on TV and we will not even look at our Bibles.
  • We spend countless hours texting our friends and yet we do not even think to speak a word to our Holy Creator.

But we call ourselves Christians.

  • We are afraid to carry our bibles in public but we want our God to save us in the hour of His judgment.

Matthew 10:33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

How many people do we pass by each day not sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ? Time is running out. There is such a need for repentance in our lives. We need a filling of the Holy Spirit to convict us of our sins. We have to get serious about Jesus. Some of us are just coming to church empty and leaving empty by our own choice. This is not a game. God’s judgment is at the door.

What is repentance?

Repentance means to have a change of mind to turn away from evil to stop sinning and to surrender to God.

The world today is caught up in me myself and I. What can I do for myself? What’s in it for me? Do what thou wilt. That is the Luciferian doctrine of today. That is the same way of thinking that brought sin into the world.

Genesis 3:1-6Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Satan wants us to sin against God.

  • We must repent daily.

Psalms 34:18The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

  • Our hearts are broken because we know people who are lost and going to hell.
  • It grieves us in our spirit.

Psalms 51:17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Isaiah 66:2For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

  • We must seek God daily in prayer and read His word.

Psalms 143:1A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

  • God hears that servant who is broken and in aguish because of sin and wickedness.

Psalms 34:15The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

Who are called to repentance?

Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

What accompanies repentance?

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

By what means is sin made known?

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

How many are sinners?

Romans 3:23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

What do sinners bring upon themselves?

Ephesians 5:6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Who awakens the soul to a sense of its sinful condition?

John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

What are fitting examples of those convicted of sin?

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

What replies does inspiration return to these inquiries?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

What will the truly repentant sinner be constrained to do?

Psalms 38:18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

What is the result of godly sorrow?

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

What does the sorrow of the world do?

2 Corinthians 7:10 The sorrow of the world worketh death.

How does godly sorrow for sin manifest itself?

2 Corinthians 7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

What leads sinners to repentance?

Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

What instruction is given for concerning confession of sin?

Numbers 5:6-7 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty; 7 Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.

How useless is it to attempt to hide sin from God?

Numbers 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

Psalms 90:8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

Hebrews 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

What promise is made to those who confess their sin?

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

What is felt in heaven when a sinner repents?

Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

How completely does God want to separate sin from us?

Micah 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

On what basis has Jesus taught us to ask forgiveness?

Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

What is the condition of the forgiven sinner?

Psalms 32:1-2 A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

We have to understand that repentance is needed in our lives. We have to surrender ourselves to Jesus Christ. We have to lay down our worldly desires once and for all. Unless we do so there will be no change.
